The Cantonment Board, Dehradun was established in 1913 to cater to municipal needs and provide civic administration to the people residing in Cantonment. Dehradun Cantonment comprises of an area of 5203 acres including 939.30 acres of private land. As per census 2001, the total population is 59,827. It is a class I cantonment and the Board consists of 7 nominated members and 7 elected members from each of the 7 wards. The Board functions in accordance with the Cantonment Act, 1924.

Presently, Brig S H Kulkarni, VSM, Sub Area Commander, UA Sub Area, Dehradun is the President of Cantonment Board. Shri Guru Prasad Tiwari is the nominated civil member of the Cantonment Board.

The CEO for the Cantonment is appointed by Central Govt. from Indian Defense Estates Services (Central Services) and presently Shri Ravi Shankar, IDES is holding the post of CEO of Dehradun Cantonment. |
