BYELAWS REGULATING DAIRYMEN AND BUTTERMEN IN THE CANTONMENT DEHRADUN UNDER SECTION 282(15) OF THE CANTONMENTS ACT, 1924
   
 
1.
No house, room, premises place or places in the Cantonment shall be used for purposes of Dairy until inspected and approved by a sub-committee consisting of Health Officer and a member nominated by the Board.
 
2.
Every house, room, or place used as Dairy or part of a dairy and all utensils, vessels and implements must be kept scrupulously clean. All vessels and implements must be cleaned daily after use with boiling water.
 
3.
The following vessels only are to be used in a dairy:
 
Tin, enameled iron, glass or brass and porcelain butter must be kept in enameled iron or porcelain or aluminum vessels.
 
Note: The above rule does not apply to apparatus or machinery of approved modern European Manufacture.
 
4.
All utensils used for storage of milk and butter shall be provided with a cover, or be covered with clean white muslin.
 
5.
Latrine, privy, ash-pit or drain shall not be within or communicating with or be within the vicinity of any dairy.
 
6.
Every dairy shall be provided with such flooring and drains as may be approved by the sub-committee and the building must be kept in good repairs.
 
7.
No person shall be employed or shall enter or remain inside a dairy who is not clean in person, cleanly clad, or who is suffering from any contagious, infectious or loathsome disease, or who shall have recently been attending upon any person so suffering.
 
8.
The proprietor or Manager of any dairy must at once report to the Executive Officer or Health Officer or any other officer appointed in this behalf, the presence of any illness or epidemic in his house or its vicinity or among his servants.
 
9.
No person shall dwell, sleep, spit or smoke in any dairy.
 
10.
Every dairy must be sufficiently screened off from any dwelling room.
 
11.
No person shall keep in any dairy hukkas, charpoys, bedding, soiled clothing or clothes, nor shall any article or utensils not pertaining to or required for the purpose of a dairy be kept therein.
   
12.
No animals of any kind may be kept in or allowed to enter in the dairy.
 
13.
All water used in the dairy must be taken from such sources of water supply as may be ordered from time to time by the Health Officer and be conveyed in zinc buckets with fixed zinc lids.
   
  PENALTY
   
  Any breach of byelaws 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 and 13 shall be punishable with a fine which may extend to one hundred rupees.
