UNITED PROVINCES GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION NO. 2799(7)/XI-18C-28 Dated 04th December, 1936 |

In continuation No. 2799/XI-18C-28 dated 16th Oct 1936 by Section 60 of the Cantonments Act, 1924 (II of 1924), the Governor in Council is pleased to impose the following revised water tax on all buildings and lands in the Dehradun Cantonment published with notification No. 1317/XI-18C-28 dated the 18th April, 1936 with effect from the date of this notification. |

RATES OF TAX |
| |
|
| |
1. |
3 & 3/4 percent on the annual rental value where water is laid on to a building or there is a stand post any where in the consumer's premises. |
|
|
2. |
2 & 3/4 percent on the annual rental value where water is laid on to a building or there is a stand post any where in the consumer's premises. |
|
|
3. |
1 & 3/4 percent on the annual rental value where there is a stand post beyond a radius of 1,000 feet, but within a distance of 2,000 feet of a boundary of the consumer's premises. |

Provided that no tax shall be levied on any building owned, leased, hired or appropriated by the Government of India in the Defence Department, & is- |
| |
|
| |
1. |
in occupation of persons paid from Defence Department funds who are entitled to a supply of water at the expense of the State or; |
|
|
2. |
used for military purposes, other than residential accommodation. |
|
|
| |
Provided further that in each case all water supplied in excess of the quantity to which supply is limited under sub-section (2) of Section 220 of the Cantonments Act, 1,924, shall be paid for at such rate as may be fixed under sub-section (3) of that section. |

"Provided further that water tax shall not be levied on Houses Nos. 112 to 283. Premnagar, Dehradun Cantonment which are connected to the Central P.W.D. water supply system". |

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 60 of the Cantonments Act, 1924 (II of 1924), the Cantonment Board, Dehradun, with the previous sanction of the Central Govt. hereby makes the following amendment in Notification of the UP Government No. 2799(7)/XI- 18C-28 dated the 04th Dec, 1936 (as amended by the late War Department Notification No. 768 dated the 30th March 1946) namely: |

In the said notification the second proviso beginning with the words "provided further that water tax" and the ending with words “water supply system” shall be omitted. |
