1. |
Every dog of the age of three months or over kept within Cantonment limits shall be registered in a register prescribed by the Cantonment Authority. Such registration shall hold good up to March 31st next following: |

Provided that no registration shall be necessary: |
|
|
|
(i) |
If the owner is a member of a recognized Regimental Kennel Club; |
|
|
(ii) |
If the dog is kept within the Cantonment for a period not exceeding one month; |
|
|
|
2. |
The registration authority shall be:- |
|
|
|
(i) |
The Officer Commanding a military unit in the case of all dogs kept in the lines occupied by the units; and |
|
|
(ii) |
The Executive Officer in the case of dogs kept in the Cantonment outside the military lines. |

|
|
3. |
Every owner of a dog, which is required to be registered, shall apply to the registration authority for the registration of such dog within one month of the date on which the dog has become liable to registration. |

4. |
After a dog has been registered, the registration authority shall issue a metal token prescribed by the Cantonment Authority on payment of a fee of annas 3 (annas three). If a token is lost a duplicate may be obtained on payment of a fee of annas three. |

5. |
Every registered dog shall wear collar too which shall be attached with the metal token issued by the registration authority. |
|
|
6. |
Any dog which is liable to registration but has not been registered or is not wearing the metal token shall, if found in any public place, be detained at a place set apart for the purpose by the Cantonment Authority. |
|
|
7. |
A fee of annas 2 per diem shall be charged for such detention and such dog shall be liable to be destroyed or otherwise disposed off unless it is claimed and the fee in respect thereof is paid within one week. |

8. |
Officer Commanding Military units shall send a list of the dogs registered by them and the fee realized for the issue of the token to the Executive Officer of the Cantonment. |
